Nikkah (Marriage) Services

Our Community

Masjid al-Mu’min encourages the Believers to marry one another. Prosperous nations are built upon strong communities. Strong communities are built upon stable families. And stable families are made up of sincere and selfless men and women who not only marry for themselves but they marry with their unborn progeny in mind.

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said regarding marriage:

((مَنْ رَغِبَ عَنْ سُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي))

“Whoever rejects my Sunnah (i.e. marriage) is not from me.”

We must not let the neglect, violations and abuses which run rampant in this modern age sour us and our opinion on this sacred institution. But rather, we must implement policies and safeguards with the intention of protecting everyone involved – particularly the weakest among us such as our women and children. The following represents our sincere attempt at protecting all parties in the marriage and promoting stable families. Success is with Allah!

1. You must be known to us or provide 3 references.

2. You must submit to and participate in 3 counseling/education sessions.

3. You must pay the fee.

4. You must disclose any domestic abuse or violence in your past.

5. You must get screened/tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s).

6. You must disclose any diagnosed mental health conditions.

7. You must disclose your Islamic & civil (legal) marital status.

8. The future husband must pay the mahr (dowry) in full before the nikah (marriage).

9. You must reduce the marriage contract to writing if there are any special conditions.

If you intend on getting married it is extremely important that you involve the masjid as early as possible in the process. Masjid al-Mu’min will not have anything to do with last minute, rush-type marriages. May Allah bless us all with righteous spouses, families and a community which transmits Islam to succeeding generations.
